The Last Sturgeon of the Adriatic

Long ago, the Adriatic Sturgeon (Acipenser naccarii) lives in the Po and Adige rivers of Italy and Croatia, they live through out rivers and seas. by the respect of people, they were the signs of river’s mystery and strengths. The sturgeon’s roe was prized as best fish as food, and its meat are the more rated delicacy. since the past, fishermen like Giovanni, and the people of San Pietro, had fished the waters of the Po River, as they learnt the movements of the rivers and seas.

Giovanni saw a sturgeon as the best, the way they runs through the deep rivers, the power in their tails running under the waters. the more the years pass, he started noticing some numerous changes. The sturgeon started to be fewer in numbers. The water started to become darker and moody, and the fishes became weaker and  weaker. The civilization, dams and fishing were changing and destroying many species including sturgeon. Slowly, the magical and huge fish started dissappearing.

One day, as Giovanni sat close by the river, he noticed some type of shadow passing beneath the river, with a familiar shape. happens to be the sturgeon, but it was young, struggling. Giovanni’s felt in a need to help. This the very last to remain in this kind. He then learn that something needs to change. by then he had an idea on how rivers must be protected, or the sturgeon would be lost forever.

 Together with his son Marco, they went to the village elders, who agreed to take action. The villagers would regulate fishing, restore the riverbanks, and clean the waters. Over time, the river began to heal.

Though Giovanni never saw the sturgeon return in full, Marco’s children would hear the stories of the great fish and how their grandfather had helped protect the heart of the river. The sturgeon, though nearly lost, had a chance to survive. And the river, once again, thrummed with life.
